International conference on Albanian Studies is a joint scientific initiative of the Academy of Sciences of Albania and the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo.
This conference aims to expand further the acquired scientific archievements in this field.
During the last decades, in Albanology there have been quantitative as well as qualitative changes.The Albanian studies have expanded with the increased geopolitical importance of the Albanian question. Albanological centers, traditional and new ones, have revitalized in both directions, in extenso and in intenso. Evidently, the presentation of their latest scientific endeavors and achievements would be beneficial for the albanological studies.
The conference will be a great opportunity in the development and strengthening of the cooperation between research institutions, research units and scholars as well.
Topics should focus on the below disciplines:
- Archeology (Stratification of major cultural groups in the proto-Illyrian areas- Illyrians and their civilization in the Balkan and Mediterranean context - The crisis of late antiquity, early Christianity and the cultural remodeling of the Illyrian society);
- History (The geo-political place and the politic- administrative structure of the Byzantine Albania - The religious and cultural dualism among Albanians – Foreign governing and self-governing pulsations, XII-XIV centuries - Between the Venetian colonization and the Ottoman invasion: the big crisis of XV century - Socio-cultural changes under Ottoman rule: divergent and convergent factors - A renaissance before the Renaissance: the beginning of the national movement, the role of Arbëresh);
- Linguistics (The diachronic and synchronic of Albanian–The varieties of Albanian – The dynamics of Albanian language development);
- Literature (The history of the Albanian literature - Poetry– Albanian literature and identity – Representative authors – Albanian literature of the present – Albanian and other literatures);
- Cultural anthropology (The periods of myths and rituals evolution- The period and the place of Epos ‘genesis - Ethno-juridical tradition and customary code – The cultures at the borders, intercultural phenomena - Balkanization of oral traditions);
- History of Arts (Features of the military, civil and religious architecture in Albania- Fine arts in the historical monuments).
The Conference will take place in Tirana, on 25-27 November 2021.
Interested scholars are kindly requested to confirm their participation and anticipate the title of their papers within June 30, 2021 as well as to submit an abstract (in Albanian or English language) until September 30, 2021.
